Match Results Jan. 9, 2011
This was our first match for 2011 we had a good turnout of 9 shooters. The weather conditions were absolutely perfect. A little cool in the AM during sight-in but turning a balmy 70 degrees with only a light sweatshirt or sweater needed for comfort. The nearly cloudless deep blue sky and warming sun made for a "chamber of commerce day" in SouthWest Florida. A little breeze kept the shoot interesting. The 30 shot course was spread over 5 lanes and presented a decent challenge. Jim Baumann and Jim Getzen, two excellent PCP shooters, both managed to clean the lanes. (No shootoff was elected to decide final order.) Freddy Poole a very competitive piston shooter scored 28 kills with his TX200.
We took a quick lunch break after the field target match. There were several barbeque selections available at the range today and after we refueled ourselves we picked up the fieldtargets and set out the silhouettes for a 20 shot pistol competition. In the air pistol silhouette competition Cliff Smith was Top Gun, literally doubling the score of the closest competitor. We all definitely need more pistol practice.
The next Desoto Airgunners match will be March 13, 2011, the annual Golf Scoring Field Target Shoot. Believe me this will be a fun event.
