beautiful Sunny morning  at the end of an early "cold snap" in SouthWest Florida.  The temps had not reached the low 70's in the previous two days and morning  lows had bounced off the low 40's  burrrrr.   Today at last we would see more seasonal weather.  This was the first course setup using all the new club targets.  Our  posted schedule originally called for a 30 shot FT Match to be followed by a 20 short silhouette shoot on this date.   We actually set out a 36 shot FT course which included 4 off-hand shots.  Donovan Taylor ( and his charming wife Sonia)  made the trek across the State from Hollywood Fl, and  it was (finally) cool enough for Jim Baumann  to join in the shoot too.  Dick Otten brought  his set of airpistol silhouettes  but the consensus was to skip the silhouette match and enjoy some local barbeque at the Gun Club then call it a day.</div> <bR> <div> Conditions were near ideal though some puffy breezes caused shooters to miss targets that ordinarily would have been easy "kills".   Windy conditions can be a source of frustration but knowing your gun and  doping the breeze is an integral part of Field Target shooting.   I like to think of the  wind as "the great equalizer".....It makes everyone's day a little tougher.    Donovan ( who finished 4th in  the 2011 Nationals) was philosophical about his score of 30 saying he needed much more practice shooting in windy circumstances.  Tied with 30 points Ron Zeman was equally philosophical commenting  "Any time you can tie a shooter who was on the podium at the US Nationals is a good day on the lanes".     </div> <div> This was the final "officially scheduled"  2011 match  for the DeSoto Airgunners.   We'll be back in action in January 2012 and  hosting the Florida State Championship Shoot
