Summer Bench Rest Shoot #2
July 12, 2015
Today we held the second of our Summer Season Bench Rest matches.
We had 7 competitors and an interested onlooker. ( I hope he will join in next month.) The weather was as expected. The temps were just about 85 degrees at 9:15 AM as we set out the target stands and wind flags. Even while shooting from the covered bench lanes it felt sticky and humid. I had to pause several times to wipe the sweat running into my eyes and stinging while peering through the scope. Definitely not comfortable Field Target weather but OK for benchrest. While occasional breezes made for trickier shooting, it also brought a little cooling break and no one complained about that.
Each competitor shoot three 25 target face cards for a total of 75 shots and a possible perfect score of 750 points.
As for the scores, Paul Stakum was the big winner, scoring 710 points with 6 X's. The nearest competitor was our Match Director Bill Shade who came in with 699 points and 5 X's. Robert Nelson shot the heck out of his Cricket and scored an amazing 14X's ! Rob reported very inconsistent pellet quality which brought his overall finish to 3rd. The equipment indicated below is to my best recollection. Here are final scores and the overall order of finish:
