BenchMatch 8-9-20
Sunday August 9th, DeSoto Airgunners hosted another in our Summer Swelter Bench Rest Series. This is the “rainy season” in Southwest Florida and we've been having some significant afternoon downpours. Flooding can be a concern at the range but so far our venue remains dry. The morning started out sultry, high humidity and temps near 80 at Sunrise; typical for Southwest Florida in August.
After greetings, sign-in and a safety review with marshall Ron Z, shooters set up on benches 2, 4, 6, and 8 to ensure social distancing. Jerry McGee was on bench 2. John Taylor was on 4 and John Loeffler was at bench 6, Linda McGee shot from bench 8. Course set up included two wind flags. Wind was gentle about 1 to 4mph. John Taylor had some issues sighting in his FX Dreamline rifle so he opted to shoot Jerry's back-up Steyr.
Our match followed USARB Rules. Competitors shoot a 3 target-card relay. Each card consisting of 25 scored targets with a time allocation of 20 minutes per card. All shooters competed in the Heavy Varmint class. Congrats to Jerry McGee, our Top Gun in this event.
