4-14-24 Benchrest

Our first  Benchrest shoot of 2024 was attended by 7 competitors.  Turnout was thinner than usual as several DeSoto Airgunner’s  were away competing in the Cajun Spring Classic in Baton Rouge, It's one of several major events on the 2024  AAFTA Grand Prix Field Target circuit.  

Today’s club match at DeSoto didn’t lack for it’s share of fun and excitement.      A cool morning welcomed the Sun into a cloudless sky.   Winds were well  behaved.  Windicator flags and spinners didn't have much to report beyond  the gentle puffs around 5 mph.  Low humidity too.  Conditions  were favorable for good scores today.

Bill S.  scored a Perfect Card ( 250 pts ) on his way to a final score of 744 points.  Fine Shooting.    Dennis D.  also scored 744 points in his 3-card relay.

Under  USARB rules when there is a tie-on-points, count up the X’s  (bullseye totals) to break the tie.

Drum roll please……………………. Bill scored 33 X’s .

And with that Dennis became  our  Top Gun of the match.   An Exciting Finish.

Could it get any closer ?

Almost  -   Trailing by only a single point (with 743 points),  Chip W. nailed 35 X’s  in his relay  earning him the day’s X-Prize !    A cliffhanger finish for sure.

Special shout-outs to Scott, Chip and Dennis.  They arrived crack-of-dawn to setup target stands and an  array of wind flags for the event.

We’ll return to Field Target again next month.  Then our  event schedule shifts (June through October) as DeSoto Airgunners host the Summer Swelter Benchrest Series.
